PASADENA, Calif. — A legal battle over the future of the West Los Angeles VA campus reached a critical moment on Tuesday.
A group of disabled veterans is suing the Department of Veterans Affairs, claiming it’s failing to provide housing on land that was deeded specifically for their benefit.
The case, Powers v. McDonough, in now in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, following the Department of Veterans Affairs’ decision to appeal a ruling from First District Court Judge David O. Carter last year.
The appellate court’s decision will have high stakes not just for veterans in LA, but for military recruitment nationwide.
